We look forward to a 2nd edition of the Summer School in collaboration with TEXTE ZUM NACHDENKEN (TzN)!

The open call invites applications from artists who have developed a dedicated writing practice. We understand writing as an artistic practice founded on a distinct engagement with language and text, manifested and made accessible in formats such as readings, videos, performances or publications (or other practices). In the framework of the Summer School, we want to explore how our artistic practices operate and what role writing plays within them. In this way, we aim to create a space to articulate thoughts, to play with new ideas, and to develop different perspectives on our own working methods.

The week-long programme includes joint writing exercises and reading sessions led by TzN and the participants, as well as external inputs and workshops. Alongside this, we want to read, discuss and perform your texts. We will round off each day with a shared dinner, prepared in turn by small groups. The week will conclude with a public event at Halle für Kunst Lüneburg, the form of which we will develop together during the Summer School.

We consider the Summer School to be a collaborative project. The basic requirement for participation is a willingness to come together in a respectful and open (working) atmosphere.

The basis of the Summer School is GER/ENG, but writing is possible in all languages, the associated translation processes are very welcome.

Accommodation will be provided. Travel costs of up to 100 EUR will be covered. For meals, we will collect a contribution of 75 EUR in total for the whole week at the start of the summer school.
There is no participation fee.

• Letter of motivation (max. 1 A4 page): What do you expect from the Summer School? How does your writing work as part of your artistic practice?

• CV (max. 2 A4 pages)

• Writing samples (max. 6.000 characters in total) and/or portfolio (max. 10 A4 pages)

The selection will be made jointly by TEXTE ZUM NACHDENKEN (Benedikt Bock & Sarah Lehnerer) and HALLE FÜR KdUNST LÜNEBURG (Lisa Deml & Marie-Sophie Dorsch, artistic directors) together with ANNE MEERPOHL (freelance artist and curator at ICAT – Institute for Contemporary Art & Transfer, HFBK Hamburg).

TEXTE ZUM NACHDENKEN (TzN) is an independent series of events that situates text as an artistic practice in the visual arts and serves as a format for readings and interdisciplinary exchange. TzN is a project by the artists BENEDIKT BOCK and SARAH LEHNERER.
