Halle für Kunst Lüneburg is turning 30!

To conclude its anniversary programme, SAMUEL BICH's exhibition combines archival research, artistic practice, and institutional critique. Based on an archival inventory, the artist initiates a series of interventions that question the conditions of production and presentation of contemporary art. In this way, the temporal, spatial, material, and personal resources of Halle für Kunst Lüneburg become visible and outline parameters for the future of the art association.

Ultimately, however, Halle für Kunst Lüneburg is only a shell that artistic practices fill with substance and life. We want to celebrate the long-standing commitment of its members and contributors at the opening night—with bingo and boogie.

SAMUEL BICH lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Er studierte Kunst an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, der Glasgow School of Art und der Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien. In seiner künstlerischen Praxis setzt er sich mit Strategien des Ausstellens und Publizierens an den Rändern institutioneller Strukturen auseinander. Darüber hinaus ist er Leiter des Kunstraums oxfordberlin und Gründer des Verlags Yours sincerely. 2024 wurde er mit dem Cathrin-Pichler-Preis für Kunst und Wissenschaft ausgezeichnet. Seine Arbeiten waren unter anderem bei Printed Matter, Inc. (New York City, USA, 2019) sowie in der Kunsthalle Wien (Österreich, 2017) zu sehen und sind Teil der permanenten Sammlungen der Getty Library (Los Angeles, USA) sowie der Universitätsbibliothek der UdK Berlin.
