SUMMER SCHOOL: WRITING AS ARTISTIC PRACTICE
In cooperation with TEXTE ZUM NACHDENKEN, Halle für Kunst Lüneburg is organising a week-long summer school. From over 150 applications, ten international participants have been selected who explore writing as an artistic practice.
The summer school will conclude with a public event to share work processes, text drafts and project ideas. With OPEN HOUSE, we invite you to meet the participants and to reflect on your own writing practice.
The format of the event will be developed together with the participants over the course of the week. More detailed information will be announced here.

TEXTE ZUM NACHDENKEN (TzN) is an independent format by artists BENEDIKT BOCK and SARAH LEHNERER. TzN situates writing as an artistic practice in the field of visual arts and hosts a series of events for readings and interdisciplinary exchange. Since 2020, it has hosted 25 events with more than 50 participating artists at institutions in Switzerland and Germany.
BENEDIKT BOCK is an artist based in Zurich. Building on his studies as a book designer at HGB Leipzig, Benedikt has developed a body of work that considers writing as an artistic practice and combines his own texts with various media such as sculpture, installation, video and readings. Central themes are Western double standards, systematic injustice and political change. Since 2020, he has been running Texte zum Nachdenken. Bock was a finalist at the Swiss Art Awards 2024 and is a member of the City of Zurich's Commission for the Visual Arts. His art critique can be found in Spike Art Magazine, among others. He is currently writing his first novel.
SARAH LEHNERER is an artist based in Berlin whose work unfolds across photography, film and literary writing. She draws on methods of diaristic writing and research, as well as a steadily growing personal image archive and a visual language firmly rooted in the materiality of everyday life: the production processes and materiality of the works are just as important as the motifs themselves. In her artistic writing, Lehnerer focuses on feminist writing strategies, processes of remembrance and translation, and the politics of polyphony. Since 2023, she has been part of Texte zum Nachdenken. Her most recent publication, Fireflies in the Dark: Letters on Ambiguities, brings together excerpts from an ongoing digital correspondence with artist Jackie Grassmann.
