The reading series TRIBUTE invites participants to select and perform a text of any kind, as long as it was written by someone else. 

Initiated by writer and artist BRYONY DAWSON, the series considers the live reading as a site of encounter between distinct voices and different registers of language. Rather than centring originality or authorship, it foregrounds the relationship between a reader and the words of another, acknowledging that our thinking, speaking, and writing are always shaped by countless external voices. Participants are invited to experiment with how they “pay tribute” to these influences, whether they are grounded in admiration, identification, nostalgia, critique, or intellectual friction.


The annual programme at Halle für Kunst Lüneburg e.V. is supported by the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, Lüneburgischer Landschaftsverband, and Hansestadt Lüneburg.

BRYONY DAWSON is a writer, curator, and sometimes-artist based between Berlin and Vienna. She runs the reading group Non-Productive Readers, as well as the reading series Tribute and screening/performance series Multiplex. Her creative and critical writing has been featured in Frieze, émergent magazine, Motor Dance Journal, Common Pink, Corridor8, Sore, and on Montez Press Radio. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

ANNA ERLER is studying fine arts at the Braunschweig University of Art.

PAUL HIRSCH is a Berlin-based writer. He studies Creative Writing at Deutsches Literatur Institut Leipzig. In 2023, together with Anna Zrenner and Ann Goebel, he developed the theatre piece SAD GIRLS for Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, and in 2026 he was part of the 4+1 Festival at Schauspiel Leipzig. He was editor of Tippgemeinschaft in 2024, a member of the  collective transletting for creative translations, and a co-host of the monthly reading series Engel im Haus in Berlin. His texts have been published in Tippgemeinschaft, Common Pink and BELLA triste.

BENEDIKT KUHN is an artist, theorist and writer living in Berlin. He has presented poetry, films, lecture-performances and quasi-musicals at, among others, Kunstverein Leipzig, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, Haus für Poesie in Berlin, Lyrik-Kabinett in Munich, Cittipunkt, and Cashmere Radio. His lyrical, experimental and critical writing has been published widely, including in Edit, ­­magazine, Texte zur Kunst, perspektive, and 3:AM magazine. For his literary writing, he was awarded the WORTMELDUNGEN-Förderpreis of the Crespo Foundation in 2021 and shortlisted for the Edit Essay Prize in 2025. Kuhn is currently a PhD candidate at Leuphana University with a project on the relation of media and sensibility in Kant, Marx, and Stiegler.

SARAH LEHNERER lives and works in Berlin. Her practice unfolds across photography, printmaking, and literary writing. Drawing on diaristic and research-based methods, she works with an ever-growing personal image archive and a visual language firmly rooted in the materiality of the everyday: the processes of production and the material qualities of her works are as integral to her practice as the motifs themselves. In her artistic writing, Lehnerer engages with feminist writing strategies, processes of memory, and the politics of polyphony. The publication Fireflies in the Dark. Letters on Ambiguities brings together excerpts from a digital correspondence with Jackie Grassmann. Together with Benedikt Bock, she initiated the project Texte zum Nachdenken, which encompasses readings, summer schools, and an expanding library dedicated to writing as an artistic practice.

SARAH MESSERSCHMIDT is a writer and curator. She currently works with the Kunstverein in Hamburg and the Hanne Darboven Stiftung.
