UNPRODUCTIVE WILL

Event   May 24, 2025, 15:00 – 17:00

UNPRODUCTIVE WILL is a body-implicated research project by Jimena Pérez Salerno. The project prompts us to revisit our relationship with the hegemonic-western notion of linear time and productive behavior, considering them as collective colonial wounds that inform the paths we tread. In a playful way, it follows a score for a ‘never-ending’ warm-up that seeks to create an experience of political awareness.

The workshop is open to people of different ages, languages and abilities. Please register at info@halle-fuer-kunst.de

The annual programme at Halle für Kunst Lüneburg e.V. is funded by the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, Lüneburgischer Landschaftsverband, and Hansestadt Lüneburg.

JIMENA PÉREZ SALERNO is an Argentinian artist based in Brussels. She considers her choreographic practice as a system of relations that enables modes of imagination, attention and coexistence. She completed the postgraduate programme a.pass (advanced performance and scenography studies) at Post Hogeschool voor Podiumkunsten (Belgium, 2022) and holds degrees in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture by ARTEA - Museo Reina Sofía (Spain, 2019) and Choreographic Composition from the National University of Arts (Argentina, 2014). She has been awarded a Danceweb scholarship by the International Dance Festival ImPulsTanz (Austria, 2019). Her latest project What Has Been Stored has been awarded a research grant for emerging talent by the Flemish Government (2024-25).

With UNPRODUCTIVE WILL, Jimena Pérez Salerno concluded her research at a.pass. Since then, the project has been presented in various contexts, including as part of Swamp Sacrifices at M33 and Radical House (Brussels, Belgium, 2024); at Kaaistudios (Brussels, Belgium, 2023); Fundación Cazadores (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2022); and Meyboom Artist-Run Spaces (Brussels, Belgium, 2022). It was also adapted for an outdoor setting at Visueel Festival Visuel (Brussels, Belgium, 2024).
